On the member directory page, I’m using “sortby=name”.
In the UserPro Fields, I have a last_name and a first_name field. The person registering would enter the First and Last Name. It seems logical that the mod or wordpress would sort on last_name, but it DOES NOT.
In UserPro Settings>General, I have the User Display Name Field set to Full Name.
Now I don’t know how it could have been setup better, but I know that to get mine to work, I had to enter a hidden admin field for display_name. I enter their last name here.
I hope this works for you, it was a month or so of trial and error.
in reply to: Last Name Sort OR Alphabetical by Last NameThis has been resolved. I finally figured out a workable solution. UserPro support takes entirely too long to reply and resolve problems. :/
in reply to: Last Name Sort OR Alphabetical by Last NameThe issue with my website was that the registration field was set to username. The person trying to register was using an email address. There is an option to use username or email, but you have to set it up before anyone creates an account. Otherwise, your database will have the login information stored under something like “user_login”. Then once changed to username or email, the database will not see the user_login anymore. If that makes sense.
in reply to: Illegal characters are not allowed in username. Was this resolved? I now have the same problem. It just started happening within the last month or so.
in reply to: Illegal characters are not allowed in username.Has anyone been able to sort by last name?
in reply to: Last Name Sort OR Alphabetical by Last NameFelix, My problem was that I was not using display_name in my registration form. I was using a custom field called member_name. When I added the display name in on the registration form, and added the stroked to sort by display_name it all worked out. I also had to change a setting in my General settings, “User Display Name Field” to Display Name. Hope it works out for you.

in reply to: Alphabetical Order of Member DirectoryChanging to Method A in Compatibility Settings did the trick. The URL didn’t work. But thank you for getting me in the right place.
I uploaded to Version 2.20, and it did fix the pagination issue. However, now the profile images do not work.
No, we are still waiting for help.
Additionally, in the UserPro Admin, Fields section. I have a “fields available” for username, display_name, first_name, and last_name. But IN USE, I have member_name. So I need Member_Name searchable. How do I add that?
Thanks!
in reply to: Search not working on Member DirectoryIf I go to the UserPro Admin, and then Fields. I don’t have a “name”. I have a “member_name”. But even if I use sort=member_name it doesn’t sort from A-Z.
in reply to: Alphabetical Order of Member DirectoryThis is my exact shortcode on my member page, its definitely not sorting alphabetically.
[userpro template=memberlist memberlist_v2_bio=0 memberlist_v2_fields=aircraft_model,n_number memberlist_verified=1 memberlist_v2_showbadges=0 sortby=name order=asc per_page=21]
in reply to: Alphabetical Order of Member DirectoryYes. On my registration form, I have a place for Member Name. They enter their first and last name. It shows fine on the member directory, but when I search for that name or part of that name, I get zero hits.
In the WP admin, if I look at the WP user section, it has a column for username, name, and email. But the name is blank, their name from the UserPro form shows up in parenthesis under their username.
