I am trying to sort my members directory by LAST NAME, FIRST NAME. I’m not sure how to accomplish this.
My current setup is to sort by display_name. Here is what my registration form looks like. Notice the Member name is setup to “display_name”.
On the members page, I have my shortcode to “sortby=display_name”. This works fine in a sense, but people register first name last name. So the list sorts by first name.
So how can I setup my registration form to sort by last name, first name? I tried adding fields for last_name and first_name. And they add to the registration fine, but then when I try to “sortby=last_name” the entire directory is blank on the customer front end. How can I fix this?
Last of all, I have attached a image of what I would like the front end to look like. I tried adding custom fields to display, but you can see in the image how it turns out, slashes in between each field, and no line breaks. I have included a view of what I would LIKE it to look like. With commas between the city, state, etc and line breaks.
Any help please?
This has been resolved. I finally figured out a workable solution. UserPro support takes entirely too long to reply and resolve problems. :/
On the member directory page, I’m using “sortby=name”.
In the UserPro Fields, I have a last_name and a first_name field. The person registering would enter the First and Last Name. It seems logical that the mod or wordpress would sort on last_name, but it DOES NOT.
In UserPro Settings>General, I have the User Display Name Field set to Full Name.
Now I don’t know how it could have been setup better, but I know that to get mine to work, I had to enter a hidden admin field for display_name. I enter their last name here.
I hope this works for you, it was a month or so of trial and error.
