Oh, but yes, there are. After countless hours of bug tracking, I found out that EMD uses a different, very badly made search function. You also confirmed this in this thread: http://userproplugin.com/userpro/forums/topic/search-not-working-in-emd-on-custom-field-with-multiple-values/
Please update your documentation and product description so the users won’t run into the same problems as I did.
This is not a feature, this is common sense functionality. Everybody expects this to work when buying the plugin.
If the fields that you have filters on have multiple values, the EMD filter search won’t work. For example, if your users have multiple values in the field secteurs_activites and you search on only one secteurs_activites value, you won’t get any search results.
This is a very, very annoying bug on EMD.
The only solution I found is to use the classic members directory (shortcode [userpro template=memberlist]), and you will get proper search results.
I hope the Userpro team will do something about this, because I too lost many valuable hours because of this bug.
in reply to: EMD custom search field not returning resultsDon’t forget to use the shortcodes for filters as they are presented in this example (e.g. search_gender=”Gender,dropdown”):
http://userproplugin.com/userpro/members/
The Userpro developers forgot to include this in the documentation, where it’s stated that you should use for filters “memberlist_filters”, which does not do what’s expected.
So, in a moment of despair, after hours and hours of trying to make EMD work as I described, I gave a try to the classic Members Directory (shortcode [userpro template=memberlist]), and this one works as expected (I get the filtered results just fine). It’s not the same layout, but with some proper CSS & HTML knowledge you can make it look just like EMD.
So, a warning to all users that read this: don’t use EMD, as it’s clearly in a buggy beta state.
I just did. Can you help me now, please?
