If I have a custom field that has multiple values, like
hobbies = “photography, hiking, music”
when I add ‘hobbies’ as a radio filter in EMD and I search on ‘music’, I get no results (“No users are matching your search criteria.”)
However, if I have a user that only has one hobby, like “music”, if I search on “music” I get only the users that have only one hobby, that being “music”. If they also like “hiking”, I don’t get that result.
This is a serious search bug. Why is that happening?
I too am experiencing this issue – please advise how I can fix it.
So, in a moment of despair, after hours and hours of trying to make EMD work as I described, I gave a try to the classic Members Directory (shortcode [userpro template=memberlist]), and this one works as expected (I get the filtered results just fine). It’s not the same layout, but with some proper CSS & HTML knowledge you can make it look just like EMD.
So, a warning to all users that read this: don’t use EMD, as it’s clearly in a buggy beta state.
Don’t forget to use the shortcodes for filters as they are presented in this example (e.g. search_gender=”Gender,dropdown”):
http://userproplugin.com/userpro/members/
The Userpro developers forgot to include this in the documentation, where it’s stated that you should use for filters “memberlist_filters”, which does not do what’s expected.
@dudezilla80 ,
Search will not work in EMD on custom field with multiple values.
This feature does not exist.This is not a feature, this is common sense functionality. Everybody expects this to work when buying the plugin.
Apologies for that , I have added it to our wish list.Thankyou.
I second @dudezilla80 also on this one, we really need a good and reliable multiple custom field search!! That is the core of a Member directory! I was expecting to have that feature in the plugin as well. Keep us posted, and I hope it will be in the next release!
Thanks,
Another good idea to add on your todo list would be conditionnal fields!
