This topic is for discussion & updates regarding the next minor version 1.0.83.
Here are a few changes I have already completed.
You can control what fields are required (post title, post content, featured image) and the form won’t be processed before filling require fields. Saves user time to know he missed something, and improves the user experience part. By default, title, content and feature image are required. I’ve provided shortcode options to make them required/optional. as follows:
require_title, require_content, require_featured 1 = required, 0 = not required.
I will also apply a similar option to the post meta keys (additional fields) so you can easily make something like:
require_custom_url=1 where custom_url is a post meta for example. 🙂
This is the first improvement that I’ve got done, ability to control which fields are “REQUIRED” before form is processed.
Stay tuned, that’s not everything for this version!
Now I added required field support for custom fields as well.
So officially UserPro frontend publisher now allow you to set which fields are required, and which fields are optional – including custom/additional fields!
This is the first improvement. Hope you like it!
My main feature would be allowing users to add images (with preview). Similar to how Tumblr does it. Drag and drop on screen (if possible ).
Loving all the updates on the development Ahmed! I check the forums everyday just to see if you have posted any updates or coming soon development info 🙂
Please keep me aware if you have any “important” updates or you see areas that seriously need improvement. I am always happy to try and improve it 🙂
Ahmed, stop, just stop being so damn good 🙁 You’re putting all the other plugin developers to shame 😀
More awesomeness indeed, can’t wait!
EDIT:- This is a big deal, you need to make light of these features a lot more in your plugin description on codecanyon, because as far as I know, no other plugins can do anything even remotely similar.
I second that (what andy999 said) You are an incredible developer, and I am willing to pay more as I know you are reliable and a fantastic coder. +1
I can’t wait to see what you have installed ! I also check this forum on a daily basis 😀@andy @Robin 😀 embarrassing .. I am just trying to improve little details to make the plugin look better and function better. I feel happy when people say that their business or online community benefit from UserPro – and I hate to have a useless tool or a tool that gets yo no where – Thanks for the positive feedback, It helps me continue!!
Awesome work Ahmed! When do you think the ability for users to edit their posts will make its way into the front-end publisher? That’s one thing we’re dying for right now!
Hello Ahmed,
Question, will there be a new form section to create the Frond end Publishing, like the Customize Fields. So we can drag and drop the available fields?
Hi Jonathan!
Thanks for the positive feedback! This is the last missing piece from frontend publisher for me, I’ll deliver a way for users to check and edit their content, ofcourse if admin allow that. It should be the same template, but with filled content. This way admins can revise the content as well and edit it.
@Themedutch, I am afraid not. I’ll use shortcode options to allow you to put a “CUSTOM ORDER” for your form fields (for frontend publisher) same for making any field required/optional
@Ahmed I think you’re right to use shortcodes instead of wasting time doing very complex things that allow people to do drag and drop editing (was never a fan of that for a number of reasons).
Any ETA on when 1.083 will be out?
Jonathan, probably around v1.0.85/87 it will be available.
Andy, I now completed the required/optional options, and I am working on way to re-order fields in frontend publisher to allow you to create custom publisher forms – this should not take too long. It’ll be released tonight, or early in the morning.
