Hi,
The integrated spam protection isn’t sufficient! Too many spambots solve this anti spam question. Is it possible to allow reCAPTCHA integration?
Or an option allowing the admin to restrict IPs (192.168.*) or mail addesses (*@hotmail.com). So everyone trying to create an account with a mail address ending with @hotmail.com or uses the IP 192.168.1.1 for example get a message “sorry spambots are not allowed to register! if this is a mistake contact an admin to get access!”
Or something like that 🙂
Hey,
maybe this is something for you.
A very efficient & more profound alternative to a CAPTCHA solution which you can find here:
They even have a WP plugin for your convenience! 😉
Best regards,
keyhanjunGood call I agree. I really want to work on some powerful options to stop spammers but on the same side, do not block legitimate users.
Hi,
How about a backend feature where you can set your own questions and answers, for example, what is the colour of the sky, or some generic questions.
ReCaptcha is good but some people hate it as they cant read it properly and give up on the registration.
regardsOr why not work together with akismet? Only if akismet identify someone as spam bot a reCAPTCHA Form will be shown 🙂 like by comments 😉
The idea was trying to keep UserPro a standalone product as much as possible. I might add some IP checklist or blacklist feature to help fighting spam as well.
I guess you will find a perfect solution for this matter 😉 Like you always did. Do you know how akisment identify someone as spamuser? Maybe you could integrate a similar function to userpro checking first if a user might be a spammer. If yes show a anti spam question (maybe plus a “sorry, we are not sure if you are a spammer, please proof that was a mistake and fill out the captcha” message) and if not let them register without any captcha.
The problem will be to code this 😉
Gentlemen,
I believe that reCaptcha on registration is very important. When I looked and compared the user profile plugins for wordpress, it was one of the main things that I wanted the most. I’m not at all interested in adding more plugins than necessary, and especially more plugins that depend on external services.Surely there is a way to add this feature to the plugin.
Hi troy, you can use the antispam question field and add it to your registration form.
