I have two custom fields that my users are forced to select. One is, “Scene” (field key= scene_multiselect) and the other is “City” (field key= city). The option for Scene, has dropdown options for Visual Art fashion Music and a bunch of others.
My question is, what shortcode would I use to display a directory of members who have selected Visual Arts for their Scene? I want this to be searchable by a text input box and also a city drop down box. Any help would be appreciated, shortcodes are giving me a lot of issues.
Much Thanks!
Perhaps this is easier:
I want to show a member directory list of ONLY those members who selected Visual Arts from a custom multiselect field called “scene_multiselect”
Can someone please supply a shortcode that will do this?
@Artists nation I’ve been playing with searches featureson my site, but it’s linited becuase there are no official members yet. But I needed this funtuction/feature for my website when it launched before. What I remember was this….Everything added into that WP database for your website should BE SEARCHABLE. For example: In members directory say you have Rappers as a atribute of a member and you want to search for ALL Of The Members That Are Rappers…..You would SIMPLY type “Rappers” into the search query field. It Should Be That Simple!!! Another example: Search for All Of Your Femal Members or Members 18 Years old…(This is in their Profile Info Already So It Should Be Searchable fromWithin Your Website Search!!!>>>>>Pick ANY Atrtribute LISTED for a member and you should be able to See What you Searched For Come up in the Query…Hope This Helps. I’m not a Coder, but I’ve been Learning WP for over a year…and I’m Still Learning everyday…lol It should work WITHOUT Adding ShortCode. But if you have to use a Shortcode it ahould be fairly easy to accomplish. Ahmed had to help me Earlier today with A Special Shortcode for someting cunstom that I wanted to add. Let’s continue to Network and help each other here in this community. I’ll Follow you please feel free to Follow me back. Blessings-Don
Thanks for the feedback. I understand the searchable part, but in order for this to work with my website’s design I want to actually have different “directories.” If you check out my site artistsnation.org maybe you’ll see why. Under the art scenes menu I have different sections. I want to be able to display a seperate directory, sort of speak, for each art scene but for the life of me I cannot get anyone to advise me on how to do this.
I just went to check your website out again. Very Informative to artists. I see what you mean by Another database. However, there ARE ways around this. It seems to me tha you want Artist Categories/Events/Show/etc…Separated By Type Of Artist and so on. At least thats what i think you’re saying.
Your Question was:
I want to show a member directory list of ONLY those members who selected Visual Arts from a custom multiselect field called “scene_multiselect”…Is this on The Frontend or JUST inside of their profiles?
Big Difference…1) I set up Custom Fields in Registration for same Type senario…ALL Are Searchable Under Type of Artist (Ex:Visual Arts) This Also shows up In Their Profiles. So when you Search for Visual Atrs…The Member Director Queries a Search based on ANY/ALL Members that Have Visual Arts Ckecked When Registering. I tried this Yesterday and it worked for me. (I had to 1st Create a Custom Field in UP and add it to Registration Field)
2) I created another Custom Field called “citystate” added it to Registration AND my Profile…And It Worked!!
However, when I tried to Create a Custom Shortcode…It didn’t find The Visual Arts (Other For Me) when Searching The Members Directory!!! I’m still working on this…3) What I had to do Thanks To @keyhanjun…Many Thank You’s!!!….I had to Add the citystate to the other shortcode for my profile categories (Ex: Visual Arts). I’ll attempt to recreate what He Sent Me. I’ll also add the Thread Link when i find it.
Ver 1.0.49 Upgrade Help! WP keeps giving me a “Failed” Error Upon Install
(read This Near The Middle When He talks to me about HOW to write The Shortcode I need this should be a help)The Examples and Code are all ih the Thread. I pray this helps. I’m running behind schedule…Gotta Get To Finishing this sote. I’ll be back and forth here. It’s 4;09 am In Detroit…I’ll be all Till 12 noon working non-stop. Especiall on Membership Profile Features and Functionality. I want Registration to be a Sinch!!! Easy as Pie!! Blessings Brother.:)
Well I asked this question in the codecanyon comments and got an answer from the developer but it didn’t work. I have a custom field that requires users to select their art scene. The field is called “Scene” (field key= scene_multiselect). So for instance, any painters that choose “Visual Arts” for this custom field I want to be able to show JUST THEM in a directory. The developer gave me this shortcode to use: [userpro template=memberlist scene_multiselect=”Visual Arts”]. I used it on this page: http://artistsnation.org/visual-arts-members/ but it is not working. It still shows all users.
I can’t really grow my site until this is sorted out. The developer asked me to post in the forums so instead of codecanyon so hopefully he will see this and give his input.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi there!
Can you try an example shortcode:
[userpro template=memberlist gender=Male]
Just to test the functionality of filtering. It seems fine at my end, the logic is same (It works with custom fields created too)
Just to confirm this works fine since v1.0.53+ 🙂
Best regards,
keyhanjun
