Inconvenient: Following and Follower tab

So, in the profile tab, there are following and follower tab, which when clicked, user is redirected to “Following” or “Follower” page.

This seems like a really inconvenient way.

Instead, why not just have ajax tab which when clicked, it simply switches to the tab instead of redirecting.

Does anyone know how to do this?
