Hi there,
Just bought and installed your plugin and got a bug (that seems to be quite usual when I check this forum”). This error appears when I click on edit profile button AND when I want to update my profile :
SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 2 column 1 of the JSON data
I noticed that this type of bug have been fixed in several cases… Hope you could help me to do this quickly (because, naturraly, this is an urgent project ;p)
The URL concerned by this question is http://ciref-agriculture.fr
By the way, I would like to ask one more question : is there a way, with your plugin, to restrict content access according to categories ? This could be a great feature for my project !
Expecting your answer,
Regards,
Yes with Quick Cache plugin (i choosed this one after reading some topics here relating problems with W3 total cache). I desactivated it but nothing change.
with chrome, i don’t have this bug (but changing profile image don’t work), but still bugging with firefox & IE.
Don’t know if there’s a link but I have an error message (not blocking but I guess it slows all the website) :PHP Notice: A session had already been started – ignoring session_start() in …/cirefagri/wp-content/plugins/userpro/index.php:17
This notice (syntax error) is a result of a plugin conflict in most cases.
Can you try to turn off debug mode and tell me if the issue continues to occur?
Hi,
debug mode turned off but no change about the bug (indeed, it seems that chrome go through this problem, but no amelioration with Firefox and IE). here is a list of what I’ve done :
– Upgrade to your 1.0.89 version,
– desactivated Quick Cache
– desactivated User Access Manager (plugin I used to create 2 membership level with a a system of locked categories). Each time i tested, and nothing changes.
Furthermore since i desactivated UAM (or upgraded your 1.0.89) another problem occured : it locks the whole website (even i setted “no” to this functionnality in your manager). After a few researches, I notice that your plugin consider that all my pages are locked (even it’s not true ;p)… If i modify each page (just push update button for each page), they return “open” for guests… update all my pages one by one… OMG !I bought your plugin, hoping that would replace UAM (that doesn’t allow me to set custom fields to user profiles)… if i can’t fix quickly this bug I won’t have the choise to stop your plugin and try to find another solution.
Regards,
Please do not use the same tone in your replies, this is not a global bug, and I am pretty sure it’s a conflict somewhere . I am using the same version here, so if you’re not ready to do some testing to find the conflict, do not blame userpro for it. If you want to do some tests, DISABLE THEME/ALL OTHER PLUGINS and let me know if you get that syntax error again.
UserPro does not lock entire site unless you make it yes for that setting.
No one else reported the same problem you describe, so it’s a conflict on your install – not a global bug. If you believe it’s a userpro error, we won’t get anywhere.
Sorry if you found my tone too agressive. It wasn’t the goal at all.
The problem is I can’t do all the test I want on this web site because it has to be fonctionnal for visitors… I think I will try another way (if you don’t mind) : desactivate your plugin from http://www.ciref-agriculture.fr for the moment and install a preprod version on another URL (subdomain perhaps) in order to make all the test needed with your plugin. Are you ok for a little help if needed in this case ? The problem is that I can disable all the plugins, but it will be more difficult with theme which is very specific for my project (lot of content integrated with the built-in page builder)…
I think a first step will be to test your plugin with a backup of my web site, with all others plugins desactivated. If it’s not working, i’ll try with a “nude” wordpress (hope I won’t have to go to this step ;p),Best regards,
Hi Ahmed,
Just done what I said. Done all the tests (on a preprod version) and made the plugin work (Think there were a problem with an another plugin I decided to move out).
Then Yesterday I reinstalled UserPro on http://ciref-agriculture.fr… Seemed to work as needed, till this morning when I realized that all non-logged visitors get a redirect problem : when you click on any link of the home page as a guest, you get redirected to… the homepage (with a link like this : http://ciref-agriculture.fr/?redirect_to=http://ciref-agriculture.fr/varietes-fraises-ciref/cirafine/ )
Perhaps I made a mistake in your plugin configuration, but I can’t see where (i never set such a restriction)… Could you give me a little help about this ? Thx,PS : don’t know if there’s a link with this issue, but the debug mode show me an error “PHP Notice: A session had already been started – ignoring session_start() in …/cirefagri/wp-content/plugins/userpro/index.php:17” Do you have an idea about what’s happening ?
In my opinion, as the website can’t start a new session, he considers the visitor as a logged-out guy and redirect him as setted in the userpro dashboard… Problem is that I have to set a redirect URL for logging out. But I have no idea why you can’t start a new session !Best regards,
That redirect bug is solved in last version already, You can solve this bug by downloading the last version of the plugin here:
Thx for your quick answer Ahmed,
Strange. Thought I got the last version (1.0.89). Anyway, I deleted (via ftp) userpro plugin, downloaded the last version as advised, reinstalled it, and the redirect bug disappeared ;p
Just for your information, debug mode still notify me this “error” about non ability to start a session… But since it no longer generates the bug, it is less important ^^ (indeed I am wondering if there’s a little trouble with Jetpack plugin… Because last time the bug appeared was just after upgradind this plugin… Guess I will verify this with the next upgrade !)I just want to thank you for your plugin, with great functionalities. just a pity – in my case – That it doesn’t permit to restrict content through categories. With this feature I could avoid using one more plugin (UAM). But I guess it is just impossible to satisfy the needs of everybody !
Thx again,
Great ! I will follow your next upgrade with impatience ;p
One more question/info : when I tested post restriction (via edit post page), I noticed a strange thing : If i restrict access to one post, my blog page becomes blocked in the same way for guests (category archives can be consulted). I must add that the post I wanted to block was one of the 10 first posts. Didn’t test with a previous post (perhaps this retriction appears because the blocked post is one of the posts listed ???).
Is this a bad set-up of my website or a “natural” consequence of your restriction functionality ?
For the moment, I prefered using retriction options of my other plugin because I can “block” posts/pages while displaying title/excerpts of the blocked pages for my guests (guess I could have a similar result with your shortcodes, but it will be longer to set up)… Now I know your plugin will handle category retrictions, I am much more curious !! :pBest regards,
