Hi there,
I may have a very unique situation but here’s the problem. Maybe someone has a good idea to fix it!So, I am unable to use the social features like followers and following, as well as Member Directory because of broken plugin pages.
I understand this is because of ‘broken’ plugin pages, but how do I fix that, give my situation?
My theme is OptimizePress, which used a live editor to create pages. The pages are great and I can include any UserPro shortcode inside and the pages will display with no problem, but the fact is that the code is hidden from me. So, the only way to edit the pages is via the special Live Editor, and not WordPress page edit. This means that perhaps UserPro doesn’t recognise the pages. So I have found a workaround, but it doesn’t always work!
This is what I have done.Create my own version of the profile, login, register, following, followers, members etc pages.
Rename their slug to profile2, login2, register2, etc. Then go to UserPro and use the “recreate pages” features. This creates a bunch of pages, with the slug:
profile, login, register etc.I then delete all these pages and rename all my pages from profile2, login2 etc to profile, login…
Finally I go to WordPress permalink page and save to refresh the permalinks.
This trick sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. Lately it hasn’t been working and that is why I am writing this message! Any suggestions on how to “cheat” UserPro into thinking that my one created pages are the right pages?
When the pages are broken my links look like this:
http://www.mywebsite.com/?page_id=/username/Also, the automated emails sent by UserPro have the incorrect links, like:
http://www.mywebsite.com/?page_id=loginWhat can I do?
Thanks!Please enable pretty permalinks first.
Remove all userpro pages, even from trash
|Reset slugs or create custom slugs and save them first
now rebuild the pages 🙂
Thanks! Problem is I cannot edit UserPro pages and convert them into OptmizePress pages.
To create the pages for my site I basically must create them with OptimizePress and add UserPro shortcodes. So I’m not sure your advice can work. If I delete all UserPro pages, reset slugs and recreate pages with UserPro, I’ll end up with a bunch of UserPro pages again, but then I’ll still have to create brand new pages with OptmizePress.
Could I perhaps just delete all of UserPro pages, create my own, then just re-save the slugs in UserPro, without using the “recreate paes” feature?
