Hi Support Team. Many apologies for this very late reply. I tried as you suggested–specifically, using Method A and relative URLs–and it works. I have been trying to work out other issues (hence my late reply), but I cannot as yet say with any certainty that the issue is with UP. I will open a new topic should I need to.
At any rate, thanks for the solution!
in reply to: Profile pictures showing as "broken"Added info: User background pics display perfectly–it is only the profile pic itself that is affected.
in reply to: Profile pictures showing as "broken"Hi ghog. I’m just another customer…But have you completely deleted the pages? Be sure they’re not in the trash bin. If you’re sure they’ve been eliminated from the trash, then deleting them from the database is the likely next step–provided you are absolutely sure of what you’re doing and of course back up the DB first. It’s rare, though, that deleting them permanently from the trash doesn’t work.
in reply to: Profile URL with numbersThanks. That looked pretty much the same as a htaccess redirect (i.e., changing /author to /profile), but I tried it and with the same result. For whatever reason, the UserPro permalink option isn’t working for me in the author section, so even if author is set to profile, I still have the same problem. The theme authors can’t help because the theme actually adds nothing to the author’s name. So, I’m pretty much stuck if I can’t get UserPro to work with the author page. I’m not at all saying that either the theme or the plugin is at fault; for all I know, I could be doing something wrong. But I’m glad it worked for you, and thanks again.
in reply to: Linking from author.php to UserPro profileHi Enigma. Thanks for trying to help–I appreciate it. What you say makes sense; unfortunately, the theme I’m using does not use a CPT for authors (in other words, it’s WordPress default as far as that part is concerned). I actually do think it’s something quite simple, but I just can’t see it.
in reply to: Linking from author.php to UserPro profileThis reply has been marked as private.in reply to: Linking from author.php to UserPro profileTo clarify: The permalink structure on UP’s global settings do not work on this particular theme’s author page because the UP settings do not override the default theme setting in this instance, which is username. So, for example, if I change permalinks to User ID, the author page will still use username. Even if I use username in the UP settings, all usernames with periods in them (Facebook names, for example) will not direct to the UP profile page because a hyphen (dash) replaces the period. In other words, it’s not a UserPro problem by itself. Rather, it’s the combination of UP and this theme.
That’s one reason I’m asking how the UP profile can be linked to from the author page.
in reply to: Linking from author.php to UserPro profileAnd UserPro just keeps getting better. Just to confirm that this feature works exactly as described on my site. The number of users found still outputs the real number (not important), but the Profiles themselves cannot be seen or found through search. Good work–and thanks!
Hi Ahmed. It’ll be more clear–I hope–when seen in action. For the moment, I’m going to use the Enfold demo, as I haven’t changed a thing from the theme’s default coding (and my site is not yet ready).
Here’s the blog page. Note that the avatar is a feature of the theme. UserPro’s profile photo replaces this perfectly. So far so good.
Click on the profile photo or author name and you get the output of author.php for that author.

What I’m trying to do is to link the profile pic (avatar) on this page (i.e., within author.php) to the author’s full profile on the UserPro profile page. That’s about it.
One reason I’m trying to do this is because linking from the blog directly (using a 301 redirect from author.php to /profile) to UserPro doesn’t work for some of the users some of the time because the permalinks either work only with names with no periods in them or with names with periods–bot not both.
Thanks.
in reply to: Linking from author.php to UserPro profileBy the way, if getting UserPro to work with a theme’s blog is “custom” work, I’d certainly be willing to pay to get it working correctly and consistently. Thanks.
in reply to: Linking from author.php to UserPro profileAnd this is the loop-author.php page:

Thanks for sharing the fix. I would never have thought of that remove action code (or of anything code-related, for that matter). I just tested it, and it also works. Anyone reading this should make sure they’re in their theme functions.php and not the WP file. Thanks again.
in reply to: Auto logout: Firefox bug?Problem solved (for now). Here’s what I did:
1. I removed the www from the site’s URL in General Settings, then followed the WP codex here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL (I edited functions.php)
2. I then re-entered the roles allowed to publish in the UserPro settings (a great new feature added for version 1.0.73, I think).
Works fine for the moment in Firefox and of course in the other browsers.
So, as suspected, it was not a UserPro issue in and of itself; it was rather a combination of things.
As for the permalink settings for the author page, I’m about ready to give up on that. I did have them working a couple of versions ago using full name, but it remains spotty with no obvious pattern as to when it fails or succeeds. There is always a pattern, however… Username with dot (e.g. Facebook) definitely does not work with with UP and the WP default author page.
in reply to: Auto logout: Firefox bug?Updating this issue: I contacted my server provider to rule out any cache mechanisms they might have on the node that would cause this behavior (they don’t), clearing cookies, etc. I’ve also narrowed the problem slightly: I deactivated UserPro and no problems with logouts. After reactivating UP, I noticed that I would get logged off simply by going to the publisher page. I then set up another page (activity stream)–same logout issue. Again, this happens only with Firefox, and I have to think it’s a phpsession problem, but beyond that, I don’t know what to explore. I noticed that one other person here had a very similar problem, but I saw no conclusion in that thread. No, I don’t think this an entirely UserPro issue–it’s more a combination of things, of which UP is one participant. Any direction is much appreciated!
in reply to: Auto logout: Firefox bug?Because this might be a related issue, I will post it here. I have noticed a problem in all browsers: The author link-to permalink structure doesn’t always work when using first-last name. This is also very recent. I am using the firstname-lastname permalink structure because of the dot in some Facebook usernames. (If WordPress author pages natively accepted dots or if UserPro converted dots to dashes, I’d simply use the username.) Using the user ID number doesn’t work at all for this purpose.
Thanks.
