I don’t do the updates, but I can assure you, as long as a human writes software, there will always be a bug somewhere.. 🙂 I can tell you it is more secure and more efficient from previous releases.. Ahmed has been working hard on making it so that it is more secure and easy on server load.. Your site should run faster with this version.. Mine does..

Whether you have a theme that updates and you are using a child theme where you put your custom work, or you just have custom files within the theme or child theme from plugins to protect those files from automatically being overwritten when the update happens..

YOU ALWAYS HAVE FILES THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO MANUALLY UPDATE.

The opportunity to update and save the files that have been customized, is what it is all about. It allows you to apply your custom work to the new files and then put them in the protected area again, without having to save everything to your computer and lose some functionality while you are attempting to rush to get the new files to the point the old files were..

We are working with WordPress.. If you customize, they have ways of protecting that custom work long enough for you to update your own files. Not everything is going to be point and click. You will always have work to do.. trust and believe that..

And that applies to any custom work, not just UserPro.

I know he is aware. I wrote it for those who might see this and wonder why they would need to update the files if they have protected them, and also for those who don’t understand what protecting the files is for.. We do have a few of those people around.. and even for people who believe that once the custom work has been protected, they don’t ever have to update them.. 😀

As I explained to someone else. I tend to write with the future reader in mind as well as trying to answer a question.. I hope that gives some insight into my post..
