[ Resolved ] Ver 1.0.49 Upgrade Help! WP keeps giving me a "Failed" …

Thank You Ahmed. Great Work. I tried to uprade Ver 1.0.49 and WP Said Said. I downloaded it from The Upgrade Users Link. What am I doing wrong. Do I deactive the current version, then Upload and try to install Latest Ver?

Hi @TheProductGenius,

try to overwrite your old plugin files with new plugin files via FTP. I think there’s no specific or hard procedure to upgrade.

It won’t OVERRIDE YOUR SETTINGS, but if you modified css file, or templates in core plugin they will be replaced if you didn’t back up.

Solution?

Use the templating way to edit your css/skins/templates. example:

Create /userpro/ folder at your theme folder

now to edit login.php template for example, keep the customized version in login.php in your theme/userpro/ folder rather than /plugins/userpro/templates/ folder got it?

For skins, similar. do in your theme folder userpro/skins/default/style.css (with modified styles, css)

This way you AVOID editing css/templates in CORE plugin and keep updates without an issue.

@TheProductGenius ,

If you install and activate the following plugin “Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades” (It’s available on WordPress.org), you will be able to upload and update any installed plugin or theme. I have used it for a couple years and it has never failed me yet. I hate having to ftp to update. And this plugin resolves that for me. Just make sure when you go to the “Add New” and choose “Upload” if you have a plugin installed, choose “Yes” in the dropdown before you click on the update button.

thanks agin @keyhanjun. I do have a qucik question related to the upgrade if it’s not a bother. Just upgraded everything was fine until i look at the members list it was all out of wack. I checked the code it was the right Code I selected before the upgrade…[userpro template=emd]….then I went to Permalinks and Hit save. Everyhting Came Instantly back to normal. Looks like it did before the upgrda. The question is this Is there a code to add to [userpro template=emd] in order to Remove the First & Last Names…and TOTALLY just have the “Profile Display Name” to show up when someone is veiwing the members in the Members Directory. First and last Name is too much for what i need on my website. Second, what should Permalinks Setting be selcted too. Mine are on Month and Name…is that wright or wrong. Don’t know much about Permalinks. Thanks Any help would be appreciated…trying to finish this project by 8:am est. Blessings.

@TheProductGenius You can use the shortcode option emd_fields=’first_name,last_name,gender,country’ customize it to your liking 🙂 this can accept any custom fields.

I mean you can remove them, or make emd_fields=0 or emd_fields=’mycustomfields,…etc’
