FB connect works, but twitter and google+ do not. I have triple checked all api settings and they are correct. The rare users that are able to join the site via the registration form experience problems uploading images (not profile pictures, I’m talking about file upload)

Can you add a spiny circle thing at the bottom next to the SAVE button on profiles? So when users click it they see something happening without having to scroll all the way to the top.
