Request Profile Changes by users

Hi Ahmed,

one of our clients has requested the following feature:

Their use-case:

1. Users can not edit their own profile data at all (all changes are done by the staff)
2. Registration is deactivated

Feature-Request:

Now when a user clicks on the button “Edit Profile” and changes some profile data (e.g. First Name, Last Name, City, etc.) and then clicks on “SAVE CHANGES” the data should not be edited in real-time in the database. Instead a new e-mail should be triggered (containing the new profile data information) and should be send to the staff’s email which they would then manually change accordingly.

One addition: After the user clicks on the button “SAVE CHANGES” the following message should appear: “Your profile data will be changed in a few days. We will inform you via email when the job is done.” (Of course the button should/would be renamed to “REQUEST CHANGES”)

What do you think can you make it possible within 2-3 weeks?

Hi @keyhanjun,

I just had a thought about your request. I hope you don’t mind a possible suggestion. Would it be practical to have a “contact” form with the fields associated with user profiles and that contact form be titled “Request Changes”, where when the form is submitted, an email is sent to the admin or moderator for their manual updating?

I know this might not be the ideal solution, but in the absence of Ahmed being able to get free to do this change, would that kind of thing work? It could actually be there in place of the edit page. Presuming avatar uploads are allowed and background uploads are allowed, below the fields in the edit page or the shortcode page “Profile” (I don’t know why there is a duplication of the edit and view profile), there could be a button placed or a link placed that says “Request Changes” and it actually goes to a different page where the input fields which require admin to change would be. Then submit the form and it sends the admin email.

Yes, plan B would be to use Gravity Forms & pre-populate form with user data. 😉
