Redirect after user posting a new post – UserPro Forums https://forum.userproplugin.com/forums/topic/redirect-after-user-posting-a-new-post/feed/ Tue, 07 May 2024 08:57:44 +0000 https://bbpress.org/?v=2.6.2 en-US https://forum.userproplugin.com/forums/topic/redirect-after-user-posting-a-new-post/#post-18888 <![CDATA[Redirect after user posting a new post]]> https://forum.userproplugin.com/forums/topic/redirect-after-user-posting-a-new-post/#post-18888 Sat, 25 Jan 2014 18:33:52 +0000 Hi,

After a general setup of the plugin, I tested that when a post is submitted for review, the same page stays open. This can be very confusing and even in my tests, I didn’t realise that my post was submitted, so I clicked couple of times, and of course submitted the post couple of time.

I would like to add a redirection to the profile page or any other page for example when the user submits a new post.

How can I do that?

Thanks,
Milena

You can view it here.”. This is native behavior of the front end publisher. Please check again and make sure you aren’t missing that.

Thanks 🙂

Most of my users then don’t see it and post several times as they think nothing happening.

Agree should be option to redirect to new page once published

Actually, I am missing that :). The message is not intuitively visible. The final result is that the process is not rounded up as a complete functionality, because the user experience is broken.

What about if we use the natural behavior of the front-end editor and pop up the message in a div layer above the rest of the page content or another solution from a similar type if a redirection is not an easy option?

Then they surely cannot miss it!

But post is not published immediately. So where would you like users to be redirected? 🙂

Or like the idea of an overlaid div above.

We can redirect to anywhere. I would most probably redirect to a custom page saying that the post is submitted for revision and “What do you like to do next” message – “write another post, browse around” etc.

Thank you for bookmarking this for the next update!

The message confirming that the post was successfully submitted for revision should at least pop up (like, for example, when you send a verification request the message pops up saying that the message was sent). If you add a similar pop-up or a redirection then it would be way more intuitive and wouldn’t cause any confusion among users and multiple posting issues.
The same problem happens when the user edits his/her profile. The message Your profile has been saved appears at the top of the form while the user is looking at the bottom of the form and keeps pushing save button thinking that nothing is happening.
