sorry to bother you again but it seems like my profile links are not working.
Every time I set the user permalink structure to username there a 404 message on the user link.
It seems like it’s only working when permalink structure is set to user ID.
Please help…I have the feeling that this issue occurred after an update…not exactly on which update.
yes, I saved permalinks…it only works when user ID is selected but not user name nor anything else.
It used to work before I did the update, so it isn’t a wpengine issue.
Also I have an own domain however it’s not connected to wpengine yet because the website is still under development.
But no users reported such issue with the update. That also does not make sense because the update didn’t mess with any permalink settings. here for example, i am using display name as permalink and it works fine. 🙂
Can you please try it on your own domain? – or undo the update if that makes it work for you again? What version did you have before the update?

One point which might help to get to the core is I also have the messaging add on installed. When theres username in general settings of user pro selected the messaging window doesn’t show the screen name…when I select user ID the screen name reappears in the messaging window.
And I don’t think trying on my domain will help my situation because this website is going to stay on wpengine anyhow…I will just add dns settings to my original domain so it will be forwarded once the website is finished.
If there’s no other option can you please send me links to 1.0.81 and 1.0.82 so I can play with them?

however I assume it’s only that way when the User Display Name Field is selected on real name.
I also just played around with all kinds of settings and did even reset all settings. I checked permalinks in general settings but still it didn’t help.
One thing I realized too is when in the premalink structure is user id selected and I try to enter the a profile of somebody else it automatically always forwards me to my own profile.
To be honest I give up 🙁
I don’t know any setting I could play around with at the moment….Maybe you could have a look and try for yourself?

I have not played with permalink structure really, the demo is using latest version and works great. I need CONFIRMATION from other users that this has stopped working please. Anyone please share and join this discussion, kindly.
Just an FYI: I also tried to deactivate all other plugins in order to check for possible interference but the permalink issue still occurred when all other plugins were turned off.
That’s ok. I just appreciate if some other members comment on this particular issue so I can know if it’s something global or common with new update, or just something related to your WP install.
So – here for example, I use display name as setting for permalink and it works great. You should get the user display name show regardless of the permalink setting. I hope someone gets in and share his thought/test.
