Ok, I finally had the chance to make some bug fixing and fresh release. Available now at customer portal. Here’s a focus on most important parts.
Post/Page Restriction Refined!
Instead of checking all pages that you want to restrict from userpro options, you can now restrict a page by going to its settings and set it to be “restricted” from the publish meta box. That’s all. This solution/update solves many issues: memory issues with huge number of pages, difficulty involved in finding which pages you need to lock from guests, previous content restriction didn’t work on “some” custom post types, including WooCommerce products, which will now work! The new method will redirect to original post automatically after the user successfully logs in. Making it a smoother content restriction. This update makes content restriction work with any post, page, product or custom type with a publish meta box.
Sitewide Restrict
Users who have been requesting to allow “access” to only specific pages instead of just one page (If they lock entire site for guests) is now available and included in this update!
Customize the “New Follower” E-mail
It’s been requested a lot. A way to customize the new follower email template, and avoid the default one – I have replied by putting this as top priority and it came available in v1.0.87. The email template can be customized in Social settings.
Major Bug Fix: Users created before UserPro
A major bug that has been reported (when using display name as permalink structure) for profiles, that userpro never recognized profiles that created before its release, this version addressed this issue. Old users or users created before UserPro will also have a working profile automatically with this update, no action needed or required. Just upgrade. (This update is for users using display name as permalink structure like in this demo site)
Fixes some memory issues, css bugs, and conflicts!
There’s still a good list to be released “shortly” in version 1.0.88. Please do not panic if a recent bug or a feature I promised was not added, it’s def. in the next patch, I could not do all of them at one go. Hope this update solves some of your issues. Good luck all!
😀 keep up the good work can’t wait to see what’s coming in the future!
Amazing 🙂 the issue with featured image on frontend publisher on wordpress multisite is solved ?
“Yes, I could not do all the fixes in this update, as I mentioned, there’s another patch of updates” 🙂
I wish this was added to the Envato WordPress Toolkit, so I can simply press automatic update 🙂
Is there such a toolkit? And how can someone participate in it? 🙂
Regarding the post/page restriction, I have never requested it before as I have been using another plugin called wordpress access control http://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-access-control/ to control page restrictions. But since you are now adding this to UserPro, I would urge you to install this free plugin and have a look at how it works. It works in the same way that you have implemented this feature but comes with a couple more options.
Basically with this plugin on a page/post there is the option to make a page only accessible by members or non-members. If I select “accessible by members” a list of all the user roles appears which allows me to restrict the page to certain roles only. Then at the bottom of the list is an option to add a url which is the page people who are not allowed to view the page are redirected to. If I select accessible by non-members then an option to add a url to redirect members appears.
This is the sole function of the plugin, so they have really covered all the options regarding page restrictions, so it is really useful for me as I have more than 1 role on my site.
@peem, I thought about same thing! We can take it further (Verified only, Role based) and that should come in next update for sure. I am happy you had the same though!
Another great update!
Really like the “follower email template” and the content restriction direct from post/page is an excellent improvement.UserPro just just gets better every week.
It’s like having 50+ plugin features all in one.Incredible work rate by one man.
Thanks again Ahmed.^I agree, Ahmed is constantly knocking the ball out of the park.
I just hope he adds my one request of making category a required field in the next update. 😀
