I recently got UserPro up and running on my new WP site. But, I’m having trouble with users disappearing from the member directory. Right now none are showing up.
I started out with just the admin user account and it was working great. Then I added some custom profile fields and turned on the Terms of Service requirement and the admin disappeared from the directory. I turned off the Terms of Service requirement and created a test account and that one wouldn’t show up either. I turned on the Terms of Service requirement back on and created a 3rd user. That one did show up in the directory.
I guessed maybe the first 2 accounts needed to have the “terms” key defined. I deleted my 2 test accounts and found a plugin that would let me edit the user meta for the admin account. I added the “terms” key and set it to “on” and finally the admin account reappeared in the member directory. But, as soon as I created another account, both disappeared again. The user meta data shows both do have the “terms” key set to on.
So now I’m at a loss. Any suggestions?
Also, the plugin asks me to log in pretty frequently. I can log in, click on a restricted page and it will ask me to log in again. Sometimes I’ll be changing settings in the backend and it will just randomly ask me to log in again. I didn’t have that problem before installing UserPro.
Finally, does anyone else get duplicate notifications??? I get duplicate new member registration notifications and duplicate welcome emails.
Any insights are appreciated.
Hello,
Can you try following –
1. Deactivate current theme and plugins.
2. Check that the issue is gone now.
3. Activate your theme/plugins one by one until you find the conflicting item.If the issue is solved after that please share the admin as well as FTP access as a private message so that I can investigate further.
Thanks for the replay. I deactivated all plugins and reverted back to the Twenty Twelve theme. There was no change. There are still no members showing up in the directory. I doubt it is a compatibility issue with my theme or plugins. I also have UserPro installed on a localhost test site and it works just fine with my theme and plugins. The only difference is I hadn’t created any custom registration and profile fields on the localhost test site.
I will PM you my site info. I’ll also see if I can recreate the problem on my localhost site.
Yes. It’s got to be something related to the custom fields I created. I imported the fields on my localhost site and as soon as I did all the members disappeared from the directory. But, once I reset all the fields and groupings, they came back. So no I guess I’ll go through my custom fields one by one and see which one is causing the problem.
I think I’ve figured it out. It was saying there were 41 custom fields, but I could only count 39. So I guess I had some bad code in there for a field I tried to delete. I hit the Restore Default Settings button and started over from scratch. So far no more issues. You may possibly have a bug that involves deleted fields not being fully deleted for some reason.
Anyway… I’m happy. The plugin is a big part of the site I’m building and it’s working again. I’m still getting duplicate emails for new registrations and welcomes, but I can live with that. Any suggestions are welcome.
Good to know that issue is solved. I will see that if there is some issue with deleting custom fields.
Again with duplicate emails – I haven’t heard this before. But share the admin as well as FTP access of site for this in case it continues.
I’m having the same issue with mwmber profiles. My admin profile is not showing. I can login and I see my avatar and social network buttons in the sidebar but when I click my profile, it’s a blank page. Also, when searching for my name in the user directory, the specific admin profile for my account doesn’t show. Userpro is also a huge part of my site and I just purchases the messaging add on. So I really need to get this figured out. I hired a developer group to diagnose another issue and this is what they returned:
The issue is cause by your UserPro plugin. We’ve traced the issue & found out that there is something wrong with this function userpro_show_badges() inside this filter $badges = apply_filters(‘userpro_show_badges’, $user_id);
We are no longer able to trace what specific function using the filter is causing issue as there are a lot of it using that filter & the server is not displaying any error logs.
I did also deactivate all plugins and there was no change. Any ideas or suggestions? Like I said this plugin is a huge part of my site and I need to find a way to get this fixed. I’ve been very happy with userpro and have had no trouble until now. Please let me know how this can be resolved as soon as possible.
my site is at http://mytechreport.com
If you were to view most any post on the site and click my profile in the sidebar, you’ll see that it goes to a blank page. If you search my name, Mark Shannon in the member directory you will find a profile for markshannon35 but not for my admin profile markshannonsf.
I am online for a little while, if you need more information, you can message me.
