No there is not an option to enable the media upload. There was a concern about using the media upload feature on the frontend. It is a security issue. You will need to use the backend if you wish to upload images. This issue has been somewhat discussed here http://userproplugin.com/userpro/forums/topic/limit-media-library-view/. The media upload functionality won’t be added to the frontend because it creates a scruity issue as well as an issue with everyone being able to view all files uploaded via admin backend.. Not a good practice at all.
