Hi Ahmed,
I understand you have lots of requests every day but I’m really desperate 🙁
I wrote you my first request regarding the permalink issue on April 7th and you still unfortunately didn’t manage to help me solve the problem while it took you one day to help enigma666666.
I’m sorry for the tone but I really need this plugin to function properly because I can’t launch my client’s page before the issue is fixed.
Therefore I kindly ask you one more time to use the my login information I provided you with twice and try to debug the permalink issues I described or at least tell me what I should do because neither flushing the rewrite rules, changing different themes, deactivating plugins and even re-installing UserPro didn’t work out at all.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Your support is greatly appreciated!!!
I’m experiencing this too if I set the profile to Display Name or Username. Any user that was created before I installed UserPro just takes you to a profile error page that says “The user profile you are trying to reach does not exist. It could have been removed”. I have over 80,000 members so this needs to be fixed.
Any user created with UserPro works fine though. I also selected “Allow Dash for Display Names”. Everything works fine if I use “User Id” as the profile link, all profiles work.
Because IDs and usernames are recognized GLOBAL WIDE, even before userpro, this issue will be addressed in next update! Please guys, allow me time to release the update, it will make the old users available in new permalink structrure /userpro profiles.
Hi Ahmed,
I just did the update to 1.0.87 unfortunately the problem is still there…still getting 404s when I click on a profile via wp admin.
What now?
thx
Alec, you had this problem even with users created with userpro, there was one obvious bug, that users created before userpro, are not recognized in profile links (+ display name as structure) and I’ve fixed that. I have mentioned that your rewrite rules are “missing” and it’s not something related to any of the UserPro updates. You still get a 404 error when you click a profile, any profile, regardless of “Permalink setting of profiles” right?
Yes, that’s correct I still get a 404 error almost regardless of permalink settings. If it’s set to user ID I’m always being forwarded to my own profile instead to the profile I click.
I also have to agree with you that I assume it must have something to do with the missing rules. The question is how did they gone missing and what can we do to restore them? Flushing didn’t help.Yes, you can’t have a username with a dash. That has been a rule since the plugin release even. Because dash will be interpreted as a SPACE. Thanks!
By the way, the setting is for allowing dash in display name (It’s not related to permalinks)
But a username, you can’t have a dash in it. If you want, you will sacre having a space in usernames, and you can edit that in plugin core to make usernames with dashes load fine in browser.
Ahmed, could you please reply to my question???
How can I restore the missing rewrite rules???Sacre? Can you tell me how to do this? Like which file I need to edit and what part to edit. I currently can’t use Display Names in profile links because of this one issue, the only setting that works is User ID and that’s ugly lol
Or be a bud and make it so you can have dashes in usernames by default haha
