I’ve been thinking about a quick and efficient way to email my customers, for example when a new update is available, or when I need a quick feedback – this has inspired me to create a basic mail sending function to all users, from UserPro.

For example, I want to email all users about new update, or important announcement, critical update, etc. You, as a customer, may use it to tell them about a new product, offer, hot deal, new feature, etc.

Would you find this feature useful? Vote please. Yes or no.

What will be included in this feature?

+ Text and HTML emails support
+ Ability to customize email sent from: name, and reply-to email address
+ Progressive! e.g. if you have 1000 users, it will send emails 10 by 10 until it’s complete to save your server resources.

As I said, this is not meant to be a full featured newsletter, but a simple and direct way to email users of your site when you want.

It has came to my mind after the rising number of updates and people always asking what is new in update, and how to get it. This can solve a lot of issues for me personally, plus It can also promote new features, take user survey, etc.

Please vote and say how do you expect to use this upcoming feature (NOT ADDON, IT WILL BE IN CORE)

-Would each sub-site admin be able to email the users registered to just their site? Or would all emails be network wide(only used by Super Admin in this case). That would be a really cool [simple] alternative to something like mailchimp for users who aren’t very tech saavy and/or don’t have many users. One concern I would have is server resources, if 10 site admins sent out an update/newsletter at the same time would it know to stagger it properly?

Even if it is just for super-admin it would be a good feature for sending out critical updates/news to site owners.

You should make a poll of possible updates and let us vote! I think the development time for each update could be key too. Some might prefer a “good” feature in a week versus a “great” feature in a month.

I really like the fact that you could use this mass messaging feature to send out updates/critical news to us though. I noticed your making threads for each update now, I like that! Perhaps making a forum “sticky” that has the latest version/link to portal/changes etc would be a good idea?

I didn’t start on this yet, so I might change the topic now. And I will try to focus on updates that are needed, and not based on my personal opinion.

Or how about “All user private messages” for admin.
This was a feature discussed about before that others said they would find useful also.
You could maybe utalise that.

Whatever works I suppose.. 🙂
