Hi,
I’m trying to give users the ability to customize their profile, however I don’t have a “Profile Background or Heading Color field” listed under the fields available. I currently have the following version installed (Version 1.0.50 ).
If someone could help me with this issue it would be greatly appreciated!
Regards,
James
Hi James,
check out this tutorial here:
How can I enable custom background image on user profiles?
- Open your WordPress dashboard
- Go to UserPro > Customize Fields
- Drag these fields from your fields list to the Edit Profile fields: Profile Background and Heading Color
- Save changes. Thats all!
Best regards,
keyhanjunWhat happens when you click on the button “Restore Default Fields”?
Thats strange, can you post a screenshot of the whole “Customize Fields” page? It should be on the side to the right.
Ok then lets add them manually! 😉
—
First we add the “Profile Background” field:
1. go to the “Customize Fields” page
2. click on “Add New Field”
3. a popup window appears
4. put in the following information:Field Title: Profile Background
Field Type: Photo Upload
Help Text: Add a custom profile background to your profile
Custom Placeholder: empty field / put nothing in there
Unique Field Key: custom_profile_bg
Or select/sync an existing meta field key: –Choose an existing usermeta — / do not select anything
5. Click on the “Publish” button then close the popup via clicking on “Cancel” if it is still open
—
Now lets add the “Heading Color” field:
1. go to the “Customize Fields” page
2. click on “Add New Field”
3. a popup window appears
4. put in the following information:Field Title: Heading Color
Field Type: Select Dropdown
Builtin Choice List: – / choose nothing
Manual Choices / Options: here put in all three words so that it looks like this (one word per line):
Choose Skin
Light
DarkHelp Text: You can choose the style that matches your custom background (if you set one)
Custom Placeholder: empty field / put nothing in there
Unique Field Key: custom_profile_color
Or select/sync an existing meta field key: –Choose an existing usermeta — / do not select anything
5. Click on the “Publish” button then close the popup via clicking on “Cancel” if it is still open
—
After this drag&drop them to your “Groups & Fields” section e.g. “Edit Profile Fields”
Good luck! 😉
WOW Keyhanjun…more great tips!!! I’ll use this sometime tonight as well. Thank You.
WOW! Thanks that worked like a charm!
I have two additional questions and I’ll be all good!
How do I make the page max width so user photo uploads can be viewed, and how do I give the user the ability to add videos?
Once again I thank you for your help, it’s Greatly Appreciated…
Best Regards,
James
Make the UserPro forms max width:
– go to “Global Options” and set the “Plugin Default Width” to: 100%
Based on my memory it initially is: 480px
Adding a Video field:
– Create a textarea field
– Make the field html enabled
– Now this field can show YouTube embeds, like how the demo shows Vimeo embed.
Best regards,
keyhanjunLooks like you got great help getting a workaround… but I’m pretty sure you just need to go to UserPro > Global Options and make sure those items aren’t in the “Fields to hide completely from profile view” (see screenshot: http://awesomescreenshot.com/01425mcd10) 🙂
@ericaeide
The option you are referring to is a front-end only setting. This means field names you put in there are now always hidden for your users who are browsing other user profiles. 😉
Oddly in the case of James two fields were missing in the backend of UserPro.
Best regards,
keyhanjun
